Abstract

|
A case of congenital extranasal encephalocele involving the soft palate in an eleven months-old male infant is presented, and its pathogenesis is discussed briefly.
The lesion is polypoid and made of bulk of mature fibro-glial tissue in which are cystic space with ependymal linings, choroid plexus and intact or degenrating nerve cells, to suggest choristomatous growth of central nervous tissue, protruding into the palate.
